Participating firms are member of the Dutch employer's association for small and medium-sized firms in the metal industry and have a production facility (i.e, trading firms are not included). There were three repeated measurements with about a year in between. The owner/manager was interviewed in a semi-structured manner, the owner/manager filled out a paper-and-pencil questionnaire, the production employees filled out a paper-and-pencil questionnaire, and a occupational health and safety (OHS) expert observed and rated the work-environment in the production facility. Moreover, after the first measurement, the sample of participating companies were randomly divided in a control group and in an intervention group.
