Vastaajilta kysyttiin ensin, ovatko he kuulleet puhuttavan YK:n lapsen oikeuksien sopimuksesta. Seuraavaksi vastaajille esitettiin väitteitä koskien sopimusta. Vastaajia pyydettiin vastaamaan kyllä tai ei sen mukaan, sisältyykö lueteltu väite sopimukseen vai ei. Esitetyt väitteet koskivat esimerkiksi sitä, velvoittaako sopimus valtiovaltaa tiedottamaan siitä kansalaisille, koskeeko sopimus kaikkia alle 18-vuotiaita lapsia, ja vähentääkö sopimus vanhempien velvollisuuksia huolehtia lapsesta. Seuraavaksi vastaajilta tiedusteltiin erilaisten väittämien avulla, toteutuuko lasten ja nuorten kuuleminen ja osallistuminen mallikkaasti Suomessa. Väittämiä olivat esimerkiksi "päiväkoti-ikäiset lapset ovat niin nuoria, ettei heidän mielipiteitään ole tarpeen kuulla" ja "on hyvä asia, että koulussa on oppilaskunta oppilaiden vaikuttamisen väylänä". Lopuksi selvitettiin vastajien Lastensuojelun Keskusliiton tuntemusta.
