The case study of the 'E. N. Sourlagas' in Gera Perama aims to highlight aspects of industrial work in the local society of Lesvos during the 1960s and 1970s. The use of the theoretical and methodological apparatus of oral history, in conjunction with the study of the industry archive, aim at highlighting the different narratives that constitute the tannery experience. The employee's narrative is found in the interventions of seven workers, who record labor and productive relationships, employer policies and union activity. For the purpose of exploring the administrative and financial context of the industry, the narrative for the plant's management was the subject of a "top-down" study, as illustrated in the "E. N. Sourlagas' and the testimony of one of the factory managers. The study of the two narratives focuses on the analysis of the paternalistic model of industry management and how the hierarchical structures and control relationships between employers and employees are articulated. The conditions of the job, its organization, specialties, recruitment procedures, working hours, overtime and wages are also described. The main purpose of the research is to interpret the discourse of the subjects and the expressive media they use in their narratives in order for narrative analysis to lead to the reconstruction of the subjectivity of the workers and the way in which they themselves form aspects of a working and masculine identity.
