Repeated cross-sectional studythree waves - the 'before' (1990) and 'after' (1993) surveys were conducted with British Rail train or Metrolink tram passengers at the same ten stations in Greater Manchester, the Sunday survey (1993) with Metrolink tram passengers only. (A) No sampling (total universe) at poorly patronised stations; one-stage stratified or systematic random sample at other stations. (B) and (C) No sampling - whole universe covered.
