The object of the research is the socio-psychological study of the systematic (fanatical) reading of American superhero comics by readers aged 18-36. Comic book reading is approached as an experiential condition that reflects the evolution of the individual's identity. It is considered that the individual reading choices that the individual makes in the narration of his life describe and characterize from an important moment of his psychosocial development, showing the orientation of his social reflection, revealing the content of his imagination. In this context, the research approach reveals three stages in the reading history of the subjects that appear to correspond to three basic periods of his psychosocial maturation. The biographical and reading references of the subjects appear to outline the basic terms of reading as a condition that draws from the inner reality of the individual and at the same time reflects the ideology, challenges and spirit of the times. At a second level, the aim of the dissertation is to connect the social with the individual to the extent that it shows how the way in which "superheroes" of American comics evolve "historically" is analogous to the stages of the reading history of research subjects and with the stages of development and evolution of their psychosocial identity.
