While the main purpose of the QNHS was the production of quarterly labour force estimates, the QHNS also conducted special modules on different social topics each quarter. The questions on caring were included in the Quarterly National Household Survey (QNHS) in the three months from July 2009 to September 2009 (Quarter 3 2009). This module was requested by, and developed in consultation with, the social partners. The focus of the module was on those providing unpaid informal care and not those receiving care.
