The survey also aimed to assess members' views on the future of CND.<br> <br><B>Main Topics</B>:<BR>Variables cover age, sex, working status, original social class, voting preference, when joined CND, local peace group members, and if active members, whether they had taken part in last three years' London demonstrations, membership of Amnesty International, church, political party, trade union, the United Nations Association (UNA), and womens' groups, and whether active for nuclear disarmament through such groups. Questions were also asked on which field of activism (plus nuclear disarmament and poverty overseas) members would like to work for if possible, what or who influenced them to join CND, and whether CND should tackle nuclear disarmament as a whole or in stages. Opinions were elicited on unilateralism, USA military bases in Britain, Britain's membership of NATO, increasing conventional weapons, non-violent direct action, overseas aid, and nuclear energy. Options for future activities for CND to concentrate on were presented, including non-violent direct action, educational work, public events, lobbying, boycotts, and local events, and respondents asked to rank their importance for campaign strategies for the next 12 months. Respondents were also asked whether there were any of these activities they would not take part in.
