It is a story of housework, which focuses on the voice and narratives of houseworkers. The study uses the oral history methodology and is based on interviews with internal migrants from different regions of Greece and refugees. The first part of the book focuses on the feeling of shame, considering it to be the background of the subjects' inability to talk about the housework experience. The second section explores the various reasons - labor law, social policy, feminist discourse - that have used the form of the domestic worker as a means to promote the abolition of child labor and the instillation of a new morality in the bourgeoisie. The third part focuses on the speech of domestic workers and traces the process by which a 'service subjectivity' is produced. It focuses on the technologies used by employers to create a subject for his service and for the workers' awareness of the mechanisms through which they were constituted. The last part of the book explores the performance of this subjectivity in their later life.
