      <abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;P&gt;Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.&lt;/P&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">The aim of this study was to analyse changes within and between the social composition of Labour Party local leaders, and of their electoral base, in the given period. The overall objective was to test some hypothesis about the disappearance of &lt;i&gt;Red Clydeside&lt;/i&gt; after 1922, particularly the hypothesis that a proportion of the elites, and a larger proportion of the electors were not red, but green. The purpose of the study was to compile a reliable record of municipal election results for the period.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">&lt;B&gt;Main Topics&lt;/B&gt;:&lt;BR&gt;</abstract><abstract xml:lang="en">Variables&lt;br&gt; 1.Municipal election results, with party labels and pattern of contest recorded;&lt;br&gt; 2.Biographical data on all (n=351) Glasgow Labour Councillors, recording occupation, religion, and votes on various cross-party issues;&lt;br&gt; 3.Socio-economic data for all wards at 5 censuses, recording Labour vote and indices of class, religion, temperance and Protestantism for each Ward, where available.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt; Please note: this study does not include information on named individuals and would therefore not be useful for personal family history research.&lt;br&gt;</abstract>
